Custom-made Kalrez ® o-rings (FFKM)
Kalrez ® o-rings (FFKM) have the best chemical resistance and temperature resistance of all available o-rings in the market. Ridderflex manufactures these super o-rings custom-made for you by vulcanising compounds in a mould. If desired, we can supply Kalrez ® o-rings with a quality guarantee or certificate. For the oil and gas industry and the valve industry we offer the explosive decompression o-ring.
FFKM o-ring: properties
The FFKM o-ring is our absolute star in terms of resistance properties. The Viton ® o-ring also performs very well, but the FFKM o-ring has an even better chemical resistance and temperature resistance. The material is similar to the fluoroplastic PTFE. The advantage of a FFKM o-ring compared to a PTFE ring is its elasticity. A PTFE ring can not be pulled over a groove in an axle. Because of it’s flexibility, a Kalrez ® o-ring can.
Kalrez ® rubber is a fluoropolymer with an exceptionally good chemical resistance. The mechanical properties remain intact at temperatures of more than 300 ºC. Kalrez ® o-rings are therefore often applied in (petro) chemical industry. Kalrez ® has the very best resistance to hydrocarbons, acids, alkalis and even oxidants.

Explosive decompression o-ring
In gas applications and high-pressure applications where pressure suddenly drops, the gas that has penetrated into the o-ring wants to go out. As a result, the ring tears apart.
